Winter events can bring the best out of athletes and Illawarra Blue Stars athlete Jessica Hogg proved that last weekend. Competing in an event that she has wanted to run for some time, this gusty little distance runner faced her first Sutherland to Surf race over 11km and ran her heart out. This popular event saw 4,990 athletes take part with Jessica finishing a strong 691 position (male and female) but her position out of the female athletes was impressive with a finish of 152 out of 2734 female athletes. In her own age bracket of 20-29 she finished a creditable 45th. Averaging a time of 4.57mins per kilometre, Jessica finished with a great time of 54.02mins, a credit to her on her first attempt at such an event. Congratulations Jess on a top run.
