President Geoff Hynoski is setting a great example not only as the President but as a winter athlete also. Geoff is contesting the Big 10 of Athletics NSW and after his recent run in the State Short Course titles he now sits at 2nd place overall with 7 events behind the unstoppable EJ Davie. His 51st placing across the line in the Open, 35+ and 45+ at the short course was a solid result. His time of 33:21 was a 25 second PB from his previous attempt at this course in 2015. He was joined by Jessica Hogg who is taking on the formidable Open women and meeting the challenge with solid performances. She finished a good 27th overall in a time of 39:45 over the 7.5km course. Ashleigh Hogg has competed in all of the same events and at Short Course finished in 24th place in the 4km in the U18 women, running 25:45. Ash was rewarded with an ANSW interview after her race, a great tribute to this young girl who uses the cross country events to maintain her fitness and is helping to fly the IBS flag during this excellent winter series. IBS is currently 25th out of 59 clubs in the Winter Trophy on 36 points which is a fantastic achievement. We look now to the Street Relays on 15 July where we should have at least one team out there proudly representing IBS.
