A good number of athletes welcomed the chance to compete on the newly surfaced Kerryn McCann Athletic centre at Round 1 of the IBS Winter Track and Field Meet. The athletes loved both the new surface and a chance for a hit out in the middle of winter - and some good performances were recorded both on the track and in the field. We will have an added bonus for Round 2 with the benefit of electronic timing thanks to our good friends at Wollongong City Little Athletics. Masters champion sprinter Richard Hughes will venture down to Wollongong in an attempt to break the 85+ 60m and 100m NSW State records, so that he can add to his already impressive list! We are urging everyone to come down on Sunday 23 July at 10.30 am to take part and help Richard achieve these records. With favourable conditions and good competition Richard should be able to achieve this milestone. An Australian record would be a fantastic way to showcase our new track! School age Athletes should be taking advantage of these winter meets, especially those who will be heading to Regional and State Titles in the coming months.
