King and Queen of the Mountain will test athletes

Illawarra Blue Stars will conduct round 2 of cross country next  Sunday and what a challenge for athletes.  Open to any athletes, from U8 right through to Masters men and women, the challenge will be the testing run up and back at Mount Kembla. Classed as King and Queen of the mountain, the event will be conducted over a 5km course with an added 2km course for juniors and sprint athletes who may see the 5km a little too daunting.  It has been a popular event over the years, and is a course that is not only challenging from the distance point of view but also the terrain. With a little bit of rain during the week, the course can be slippery and athletes are asked to wear appropriate shoes.  All athletes are asked to meet at the Mt Kembla Lookout to commence the event right on 10.00 am. If you are not sure of the location please check with Geoff Hynoski or Valmai Loomes, or visit the website of the club wwwillawarrabluestars.com.au.  Blue Stars welcomes all athletes to have a go regardless of club.

On cross country the course at Minnumurra once again was a challenge, being one of the favourites among athletes. The club’s athletes have posted some great results from school cross country with a number of them off to the State cross country including the Club’s Walker of the Year, Jake Attwell. Attwell has proven himself to be a capable distance athlete both on the track and also cross country, and does not limit himself to walk racing.
