Masters show style in a number of events

Athletics is such a diversified sport and there are many options for people to either concentrate on a few events, take up the multiple events challenge, or just try everything that is on the program.  Blue Stars encourages all athletes to have a go at all events on the program at club level, and then if they can, commence concentrating on a couple of events as they continue in the sport.  The club supports athletes of all disciplines and supports those who choose the multiple events, such as the talented master’s athlete June Lowe.  June completes in a variety of events and is skilled in all of them.  She used the current Masters Pan Pacs Games as a benchmark to her progression, and what a meet she had.  June created two Pan Pacs records in the shot with 9.67m and the Pentathlon with a score of 3719 points, and followed this up with gold in the shot, discus, 80m, hurdles, javelin, hammer, 100m, 60m, high jump and throws pentathlon, and a great silver in the weight throw.  This shows the variety of June’s events but also gives athletes the opportunity of doing most events and challenging themselves or making a decision on what they wish to do.  In any case the sport gives a wonderful opportunity of a variety of events, and is available for anyone to have a go through IBS.  June was capably supported at Pan Pacs by club member, Rina Flynn, who captured 5th in the 100m, 4th in the 200m, 5th in the 60m and 3rd in the 400m, giving Rina a good result also.
