Geoff finishes winter on a High whilst Gianna opens the summer on the beach

Board members and masters’ athletes Geoff Hynoski and Gianna Mogentale have both either completed the winter on a high or opened the summer, also on a high.

The winter season was a good one for the club, and no more deserving of a high award is president of the club, Geoff Hynoski.  Geoff completed the Big Ten by becoming the 2nd athlete to do so, and his top ten events were highlighted by PB’s and top placings.  The great initiative of ANSW saw a number of athletes complete the Big Ten but masters’ athletes dominated the top first athletes to achieve the feat.  Congratulations Geoff on a top effort,  challenging himself over distances from12km, 10km, 8km and 7km, with the shortest distance being his leg in the Street Relaysof 4km.  He now heads into the summer season looking forward to shorter distances of 800m and 1500m, where he will be joined by his fellow middle distance athletes including Col Clarson who returned to the track last week , and Darrin James.

Meanwhile Gianna Mogentale opened her summer season with a great performance on the beach. Contesting the event for the second time, the Beachletics, Gianna can adapt to the beach running with ease and came home the winner again, showing beach sprintersshe can change from the track very easily.  Her run in the open women’s 90m final was a good one to run into 4th spot, but she then took out the women’s 50+ age bracket over 70m, and then backed up to win the  50+ 180m -  all tough running on the sand buta great way to open the summer season.
