Winter conditions opens the Summer Season

Windy, but sunny conditions greeted Illawarra Blue Star athletes as they took to the track for the first round of the summer track and field season.  Athletes handled the conditions well and some good promising performances were recorded, highlighting the club is going to have a great summer season.  Family participation is a key component of the club and is great to see a number of mums and dads taking part. Intending members are reminded they have time to register for the summer, and can do so any Sunday at the Kerryn McCann Athletic Centre.  Round 1 contested on Sunday gave athletes the opportunity of meeting up with new members, ordering uniforms and taking part in the fund raising campaign the club has enlarged on for the season.  IBS did not compete last Sunday due to the long weekend but will be back on track on Sunday 8 October with round 2 of competition.  The club will also have a large contingent of athletes travelling to the NSW All Schools that will be held from 12 October right through to 15 October and from performances in Combined High and associated Schools events.  Many IBS athletes are sure to be up in the finals of their respective events, and we wish them well.  The NSW All Schools is one of the largest events on the athletic calendar and brings together athletes from all sections of secondary schools.  From past events, the All Schools have unearthed a lot of talentwith opportunity for clubs to engage these athletics into our sport.
