King and Queen of the Mountain have again been crowned after athletes took to the challenge of the Mount Kembla course. Showers the previous day was not a good sign due to the nature of this tough, up and downhill course, but nature once again was good to Illawarra Blue Stars athletes. In perfect conditions they took to the course, being a little apprehensive on how slippery the run would be at first but settled in a good steady running pace. Knowing the course like it belongs to him, former King of the Mountain, Geoff Hynoski came out the winner once again defeating a strong finishing Chris Thurbon by only 30 seconds. Queen of the Mountain went to Jessica Hogg, who recorded the 3rd fastest time overall, and the first woman home.
In the shorter course run, the run and time of York Yu gave him the title of Prince of the Mountain, whilst Rebecca Dos Santos took the honours of Princess of the Mountain, finishing 3rd overall and first woman in the short course 2km run.
Next Sunday will see athletes contest the Wiseman Park cross country course. Commencing at 10.00 am, this course is a little different to the previous weeks up and down hill runs but will offer a challenge to all who take part, for quick fast times.
